I’m Avery
I’m a Mexican butch trans thing. Take this identity as you will.
I’m an independent writer & technically retired journalist. I have six & a half years of experience in local broadcast radio & I have specialized in copy editing & audio production work for some time.
I run dyingsignals.love an independent website I’ve kept in some form since 2021, where I blog, upload my art & zines, review wrestling & indie games, & share digital resources.
I’m a huge wrestling fan & I am desperate to find a place to post about it.
Thanks on the compliment!
Yeah, I’m semi-retired. My first & longest job was as a radio news broadcaster at my local AM country station, I largely did evening news broadcasts but I also did sports broadcasts for the local high school teams across sports & I covered the local school district. I got my start through a friend I had in theater & by the end I was the operations manager & trained every worker who now works there. I also did some work at my college at an assistant chief copy editor, reporter & head of the diversity chair. I also did editing work on a podcast with a journalist exchange between the US & Yemen.
The reason I call myself semi-retired is I got really pushed out by the journalism department at my college due to my disabilities & hostility at the paper for both my disabilities & being very openly trans. I’m largely fine with this because it wasn’t a great environment but I wouldn’t hate going back to radio work.
And cool! I’ll put a request in.
Howdy, Hexbear's more of a classic web forum than a twitter-like so I'm sure it's going to take a bit of time adjusting to the tech, but I'm sure people will always be glad to help out if you have quesions.
For example, I'm sure you saw @ButtBidet@hexbear.net 's comment complimenting your website, and asking some questions shortly after. To reply directly to such comments you move your mouse curser to the bottom of the comment to the little icons, starting from left to right an up facing arrow, a document page with a corner folded, an arrow facing left. That arrow facing left is the reply feature. I'll include a picture highlighting it as well.
replying will let the other user know you've seen their comment and have sent a message back to them. Happy posting!
