I know it’s associated with a certain type of person who often do have autism, but I think it’s harmful to assume everyone like that must have autism. Some people live like that just because they’re selfish and lazy, not out of any disability.
There’s nothing about being a basement dwelling terminally online weirdo to autism. Sure some autistic are like that but many if not most aren’t, and most people that way aren’t autistic.
Now if someone is making sounds or physical gestures meant to mock autistic while mocking those people, yeah we got a problem. But really the rest of it is just mocking Internet neckbeards. If we associate all that with autism it would mean mocking the likes of Vaush or Notch is mocking autistic people.
Is it?

That kind of defense can be used for literally any stereotype.

That's exactly what a stereotype is...
Because that's all autism is? Sounds and gestures?
When has the tendies meme every been associated with someone like Vaush or Notch?
How about when an autistic person tells you it's a harmful stereotype, listen to them instead of making excuses.
I’ve seen it used to mock Notch specifically, idk about Vaush
Alright fine if that’s how the autistic community feels I’ll take your word for it but it is news to me, and I am myself in the spectrum FYI
