    There's a number of alternatives that are — go well beyond packing. ... The last thing we need to do is turn the Supreme Court into just a political football, whoever has the most votes gets whatever they want. Presidents come and go. Supreme Court justices stay for generations.

    The thing where the people that get more votes get to do things is called "democracy", and the supreme court has asserted itself as an explicitly anti-democratic institution for 200 years. You always get a council of elders that insist their interpretation of the constitution is objective (impossible) and historical (bad) and they consistently tell you that the law says that you have no rights and have had no rights for 200 years.

      Ok but how will the ruling class have veto power over the country if we don't pack the courts full of Harvard and Yale law grads

      They stay for generations, which is something you can potentially fix (term limits), but you don't want to.

      No one chooses Supreme Court Justices, they are arbitrarily picked by a president who you probably also didn't pick because the Electoral College exists, which is an institution also don't want to get rid of.

      Biden really is the do nothing president.
