lol forming a commission or committee is what politicians do when they want to seem like they are taking action but dont want to actually take any action

    (3) When possible, refer all matters to committees, for further study and consideration. Attempt to make the committees as large as possible – never less than five.

Twitter is already full of responses from shitlibs like "And the left accuses Biden of being a secret Republican" and "honestly, I am happy that Biden is taking a stand on the Supreme Court". Like WTF? It is a bipartisan commission, the opposite of "taking a stand".

It's just like when Obama started choosing Republicans and putting them in control of things during his administration all in the name of "bipartisanship". Obama appointed Ajit Pai to the FCC who waited on him to be out of office and then quickly moved to gut net neutrality.

Biden is going to repeat that. Appoint Republicans as acts of bipartisanship, then sit back and do nothing when they flip the tables and start making demands. Come 2022, the GOP will sweep mid terms and then the excuse will be "Biden can't do anything! He can't cause Republicans control the Senate and House!" which is exactly what liberals yelled at us from 2010 onward when we said Obama was too cowardly to ram policy.

I don't think Dems really want to use power whatsoever. This will be their excuse. The first thing they're going to do under Biden is refuse to push anything and insist that they can't until they push more taxes. Then they'll turn around and blame Republicans when they're the ones that reach out to them and put them in power. 2022 is going to get real ugly.

Amazing this ghoul has used almost every possible way of telling people to go fuck themselves about the supreme court. He doesn't give a shit, and libs are still like: "ok, but what do you mean exactly?"

He also has said he'll confirm ABC.

By this bipartisanship move, he'll put Republicans on the commission, who will happily flip the tables and start demanding things. Biden will be just like Obama and let them do whatever they want. Then come 2022 when Republicans sweep midterms and get control of the government again, the excuse will be "Biden can't do anything! The Republicans won't let him!"

Sound familiar? That's exactly what happened with Obama after 2010.

Remind me again how this is the harm reduction candidate and he can be moved left. Biden and Dems are making it loud and clear that if you're to the left of them or you're poor, then they fucking hate you.

I seriously can't wait for a Biden presidency so that way liberals can't "BUT TRUMP" me when I talk about how awful he is. And then when Biden performs awful policy he said he would do, I can stick in their smug faces (but they won't care).

I know how you feel and I feel the same way.

Biden's presidency is going to be an absolute disaster and the only real shining light is that it will damage Obama's legacy (if him not leading us to Trump didn't).

Or the more likely scenario that a Biden presidency would make liberals double down on neoliberalism and lurch further right.

There's a number of alternatives that are — go well beyond packing. ... The last thing we need to do is turn the Supreme Court into just a political football, whoever has the most votes gets whatever they want. Presidents come and go. Supreme Court justices stay for generations.

The thing where the people that get more votes get to do things is called "democracy", and the supreme court has asserted itself as an explicitly anti-democratic institution for 200 years. You always get a council of elders that insist their interpretation of the constitution is objective (impossible) and historical (bad) and they consistently tell you that the law says that you have no rights and have had no rights for 200 years.

Ok but how will the ruling class have veto power over the country if we don't pack the courts full of Harvard and Yale law grads

They stay for generations, which is something you can potentially fix (term limits), but you don't want to.

No one chooses Supreme Court Justices, they are arbitrarily picked by a president who you probably also didn't pick because the Electoral College exists, which is an institution also don't want to get rid of.

Biden really is the do nothing president.

This exact thing is why so many people voted for Trump back in 2016. I knew several people who were disgruntled with the system and angry about Obama and how the establishment works and they JUMPED for Trump. They thought he really was an anti-establishment candidate and they used to argue with me that even if he is a disaster "it's worth it cause it will be like throwing a grenade into the window of the establishment and will shake things up!"

Seeing Biden want to push for bipartisanship and work with Republicans just reminds me of all those conversations I had with people back in 2016 who hated Hillary and would go on about how much they were pissed at the system and establishment. Libs are always whining about populism and how they wish it would just go away or the fantasy that "Republicans will go back to normal after Trump" but this kind of government is what made people move to Trump in the first place, and I don't know WTF they expect in the next 4 years to happen of Biden fucking everything up. The next fascist figure we get is going to be a hell lot smarter than Trump.

Even for positions other than president? This is my first presidential election (I'm 21) and I'm voting PSL, but with the local positions there really is no choice other than Dem/Rep :/

What you just described is exactly what happened in 2012 and Obama's re-election. After he turned out to be a massive disappointment, they all yelled at us to vote for him again for those same reasons. We were called hypocrites and it turned into a discussion of "Romney's worse! At least vote blue no matter who!"

It's hilarious that they love Romney now cause in that election cycle he cemented himself as a massive piece of shit. And yet despite this, he was doing pretty good until the 47% thing and him talking about poor people. Obama only won his re-election due to that and the fact he could still give amazing speeches with good charisma. People have generally forgotten how hated Obama was in 2012. That was also the height of the Tea Party and they weren't too happy the GOP gave them Romney. I sometimes think that had Trump ran back then with his loud mouth style and constantly attacking his opponent, Obama don't win re-election.
