btw, this very strong distinction between catholic and protestant christianity is pretty alien to me. either because i'm equally far from both, or because i grew up in a country that ended up mixed catholic/protestant at the end of the wars of reformation.
in reality, christianity is pretty pagan by itself. god has a son who is god and he dies? god is born? god dies? that's greek shit.
Praying to saints is a weird catholic thing and always seems like pagan idolatry to me.
