Imagine Marxism except it's like modern Christianity where the vast majority of adherents have dogmatic devotion to the cause but have never read the source material, not engaged in any discussion or thought or analysis surrounding the thing, and who use it as a cudgel against those they do not like, or extend it to cover things it didn't originally discuss while saying it did (or vice versa).
