imagine a giant hamburger hurtling towards a line of people tied up ....
because cars are when freedumb and never hurt anyone but trains are when you're forced to kill
the car as a moral model of complete independence where one's actions are only one's own, and never constrained by circumstances. the train as the model of total contingency, where the only individual actions are pure binary choices to act or not act, and everything outside of that choice is fixed and therefore beyond consideration or analysis.
critically, the subject of the trolley problem is outside the trolley.
