This was really the turning point for me. I never loved Bill Maher, but watching this movie I was like "wow, you're not wrong but you're such a smug asshole".

It's been over a decade since I saw it, but I do remember him not knowing things about the religions he was criticizing. IIRC he didn't understand the Holy Trinity in Christianity but was still trying to "gotcha" people over it. I will shit all over Christianity all day, but even I know the father, son, and holy ghost are considered a single entity by Christians and it's not logically incoherent. Maher was insisting they were violating the commandments by worshipping three gods or some shit.

Like no dude, that's not how it works. If God is all-powerful as Christians believe, he can take on any form or do things that are physical contradictions. He's God. He does whatever He wants and Christians aren't inconsistent in this regard as Maher thinks.

I gave up about 1/3rd. of the way through. Bill Maher is just insufferable and knows fuck-all about what he was criticizing. "No investigation, no right to speak" was created for people like him.

I remember when I still liked or respected Maher after getting into late night talk shows, and thought wow this movie must be good, and finally looking it up and seeing that it is just a total fucking flop boring piece of shit.
