Marx’s impressive predictions are a direct result of this analysis. Weber paraphrases Marx as appreciating that “the limits to the exploitation of the feudal serf were determined by the walls of the stomach of the feudal lord.” Under capitalism, on the other hand, we have profit-oriented commodity production. This means that neither “stomach walls” nor any other kind of natural limit impose themselves: accumulation can be infinite, and since everything is tradeable with everything else, the capitalist not only can but must (in order to compete) accumulate without limit. Growth for the sake of growth, a growth that is indifferent to what kind of work anybody actually does.

The complicity will continue until the billionaires and their sycophant politicians are safely ensconced inside their NZ bunkers.

I find the whole bunker thing incredibly funny myself. Like we all saw how people were going nuts during pandemic lockdowns. Now imagine the most narcissistic people who are used to their every whim catered living in a cage. It's not gonna matter how gilded they can make their cages, they will go insane within weeks.

Looking forward to cracking their bunkers open and seeing them fully turned into Morlocks after a fortnight
