        IMO how competent heads of state appear has little to do with it. So many Western European countries are currently eating shit worse on a per capita basis, with regards to Covid, than the U.S despite most of their leaders having far better resumes/ appearing more "Statesmanlike" than Trump. Hell, I'd suspect that if the U.S was currently run by president Hillary Clinton, the difference in total cases would probably be less than 10-20%.

          yeah I think there's a lot of reasons China's government is slightly more competent than the US's, Chinese politicians make much less on average than American ones, and iirc Chinese politicians have to spend time in rural areas before they can advance in the party. The government is also set up in such a way that "corruption purges" are still possible, unlike the US.
