What organization is putting you in this situation? Seems like you need to tell somebody in charge that this is not okay and they're one sneeze away from spending the rest of their lives having their wages garnished from a slam dunk lawsuit they could never pay.
Well McConnell is dead set on passing something to protect companies from liability if employees get sick on the job, so presumably there's a genuine legal risk (but knowing Democrats, he'll get what he wants and you'll be SOL).
This is a customer, though, not an employee, so OP may still have a case.
