Fuck that I would sooner stay and die fighting. Someone has to.

Can I ask a serious question without trolling in the best possible faith? For what? What is there worth dying for? My experience there was isolation, depression, sitting in traffic, eating unhealthy food and becoming distant to everyone I know structurally. It felt like living in a place that already collapsed. What is it that you would die for? McDonald's?

Edit: This is too much of a bummer, maybe I should delete it. If you feel solidarity is fighting then good luck I really mean it, I'm pretty old and have a blood disease I'm literally not able to be a fighter and staying there is death for me. I focus on teaching people how to be sufficient to feed themselves and their communities and run a mutual aid community of sorts to the best of my ability. I just can't see the inspiration to die fighting for America or the American way or living.

yeah, I think in general the USians on this website envision themselves fighting to end America and are against its way of life and, if you are anti-imperialist, that is one of the most essential things to the survival of the human species. I am glad you got out, but fuck you, that level of pessimism and smugness is exactly what is going to destroy life on this planet. It's the type of hyper-individualism and fuck-you-I-got-mine-attitude that created the USA as it exists. Better to fight against what is happening, in any way possible, than pollute some other country with more yankees who are fleeing the symptoms instead of fighting the disease itself. I am glad you feel you are exempt from participating in any sort of revolutionary activity because mutual aid isn't going to challenge imperialism on any level, especially when it is outside of the belly of the beast.

Exactly my point. The fact there are so few of us committed comrades here in the core makes each one of us that much more important.

I'm getting old too but I have the capability and it would be irresponsible for me to leave behind my comrades who cannot flee.

if you can afford to emigrate, you can afford to stick around and use your relative wealth to help change the outcome. those of us who can't afford to leave need your help.

          • Starting in about 2008 I kept changing jobs until I landed with a company that had offices in places I wanted to live then applied for relocation. My brother moved on a tourist visa then worked odd jobs for cash including tutoring English and working at resorts until they got married. I'm aware that the pathway isn't obvious but loads of people move around the world all the time and other places are less of a police state than the US and people will help you. If it is the future involves landing in a Trump branded labor camp it is worth meeting people online and getting a feel for places you might be able to crash for a while. Loads of vacation spots and resorts will let you live and work for quite some time just because you speak English.

Having seen some of the exec orders, I have an old one with the wrong gender marker, should I just apply for a new one as if I were having any other piece of info changed and hope for the best that it goes through?

More likely to go through right now than in a year or 6 months as they haven't quite had time to stack the administrative agencies thoroughly though I suspect they're going to be processing more than usual.
