I was just talking to my wife about this, we came to the conclusion that the "experience" of having it broadcast on TV is what these people feel like they're missing out on, but what a great oppourtunity to start Pirate Broadcasts

Imagine craving commercials that interrupt your movie every few minutes and are longer than the movie segments themselves

That take is so awful and pointless I nearly downbeared on instinct

Honestly, it's pretty sad. The idea of "standing up" to corporations in their mind is signing a petition.

Maybe if we wrote a petition demanding Exxon Mobile stop expanding fossil fuel production, we'd stop climate change.

Apple bought the rights. The thing is they actually got them really cheap because no one else really bid. Netflix put in a "token bid" but the broadcast networks didn't bother because they never gave a fuck about "tradition"

Apple are letting everyone watch the specials for free on special weekends to try and quell the controversy anyway.

But Apple’s gonna let people stream it for free. I mean I guess it sucks if you don’t have a streaming device or computer, but you gotta figure that’s a pretty small minority of people.
