Whatever you think of Biden or Greenwald, Greenwald is 1000% right that the media (esp Twitter and Facebook) engaged in pro-Biden censorship. I mean, CNN and MSNBC carry water for the Dem leadership everyday, but this was just egregious. Not being able to share a story because it makes the media's favorite candidate look bad? Holy fuck is that bad and sets a precedent for them to block fucking anything.
The Intercept is claiming that they were only trying to edit his writing so that it's "accurate and fair"... which sounds reasonable, but the devil's in the details about what's actually "fair", and they only promise to tell the full story "in time", which doesn't make their case sound strong. They say he was going to spread 'the Trump campaign's dubious claims', which I kinda doubt as well - he doesn't have a record of just spreading right-wing bullshit. Worst case scenario, he'd be doing the same thing the mainstream media did with RussiaGate - repeatedly spread the Democratic leadership's dubious claims. Demanding to edit his story because they disagree with the accuracy is censorship - let the issue be argued publicly if Greenwald believes it so strongly.
The Intercept remains one of the better publications, but I'm team Glenn all the way. He's a true believer in telling the truth as he sees it - even an honest fool is more useful than a lying sage, and he's no fool. We need a million of him.
frankly kind of disappointing how many people here stan the intercept
greenwald has published some wonderful pieces of anti imperialism and on that front is a net positive, but the intercept REGULARLY PUBLISHES US IMPERIAL PROPAGANDA, so with him gone its like wtf is the merit of the intercept now
oh they're gonna publish some lukewarm jacobin tier garbage about cops being bad? come the fuk on, the intercept used to be about publishing snowden tier shit
I will also, in a separate post, publish all communications I had with Intercept editors surrounding this article so you can see the censorship in action and, given the Intercept’s denials, decide for yourselves (this is the kind of transparency responsible journalists provide
See? He's already making a better case than The Intercept did.
Don't have time to read the full thing, but running through the first few pages it seems as well-documented, nuanced, and detailed as ever. Trump propaganda it is not.
You have to be really suspicious about this push to discredit journalists like Greenwald and Taibbi. They've been embarrassing the ruling class for decades. They've demonstrated where their allegiance lies. Their enemies are our enemies and shouldn't be trusted for a second.
The rough part is all the clearly pro-trump people latching on to Greenwald and this story as vindication of everything they've been saying. there is no object truth reality is a simulation shut it off plz
Sure, but if Trump supporters are saying that the sky is blue, that doesn't mean we should insist on the opposite. The media is killing its own reputation through bias and we shouldn't be going down with their sinking ship. They dragged Bernie every way they could too.
Objective truth is a difficult thing to arrive at philosophically speaking. But corporate media spewing lies and defending one faction of the elites over another is obviously fucked up. If their lies catch up to them and more people abandon them - good.
