    Is there any good theory about the morality of imperial soldiers, especially like pre-1900? I know that communists believed soldiers of ww1 were alienated workers, but i wonder if there's any good literature of soldiers in, say, the Congo Free State

      I've never run in to it. To the best of my knowledge the idea of holding grunts individually responsible for the actions of empire starts some time after the Vietnam War, or even post 9/11
