All this means testing shit does is sow division in the working class. Education should be a universal right. No one should be denied admission to college and no one should have to buy their way into the job market. If the state has 5,000 applicants and only 4,000 seats, then they need to build more colleges, not try and figure out the most equitable way to shove 1,000 kids into poverty.

I read studies on how the 1996 ban affected the UC system. Income-based decision-making was largely effective and it helped latino/latinx people but black people were still hurt by the removal of affirmative action.
