I live in a city and most of the time when I see pit bulls they’re dragging 90lb white women down the street while they barely hang on for dear life. Most people do not have the time needed to devote to training them and most people wouldn’t be able to restrain them if they want to kill. On top of this, they have an unpredictable tendency to randomly attack or kill other animals and people. On three occasions I have witnessed pit bulls break free of their incompetent owners grip and attempt to kill whatever set them off. I’ve seen one dog get ripped to shreds and I’ve had a pit charge at me only to get yanked back at the last moment by a stranger who grabbed his leash. There is a ton of fair criticism for people who are anti-pit bull, but I swear to god if I hear one more person talk about “nAnNY DoG” or accuse me of being racist for having genuine concerns about a specific dog breed I’m gonna lose my shit. There’s nothing racist about disliking pitbulls. We bred them for specific, violent characteristics and many of them(not all of them) tend to exhibit those characteristics in an unsafe way.

Do you support going house-to-house rounding up and killing any family dog that vaguely looks like a pit bull, like they did in Denver? Perhaps certain breeds should be phased out with bans on breeding, but this approach is bad.

there are better solutions than that for sure. I don’t support that. Bans on breeding and sterilization are better approaches.

This is a stupid opinion and you deserve to be bullied for saying something as dense as this. I'm hoping you'll return to this comment between asking for the manager and making racially profiled calls to the police to come back here and learn something.

There’s nothing racist about disliking pitbulls.

Not always, just a majority of the time.

We bred them for specific, violent characteristics

No, they were bred for size, muscle, and "loyalty". Which is different. Just because German Shepards are used as cop dogs doesn't mean every one is going to snitch on you for having drugs. That's not how things work.

You're not wrong that a lot of people don't or aren't willing to put in proper time training dogs (of any breed) in the ways that they need to and buy them as an accessory instead of bringing them into your family as a part of it. However, literally any dog above like 50 pounds has the capability to be dangerous to an adult and like any pet above like 25 lbs has the potential to be dangerous to a child. On top of that, humans are a much greater threat to other humans than dogs but you're not talking about rounding them all up.

Instead of demonizing the animals for people's shortcomings we should be offering up free training to people so that they can handle the dogs that they choose to adopt.

I love how you called me racist for complaining about pitbulls lmaoooooo. You idiots have infested every corner of the internet. Look up why Pitbulls are named pitbulls. They are descended from bullbaiting dogs that were specifically bred to bite and hold bulls and other animals’ faces. Pitbulls are more prone to unpredictable aggression and the stats on maulings back that up. Look up some articles about mauling and you will inevitably read the pit’s owner saying “he was so lovely and loyal and he’s never done anything like this before blah blah blah”. Even with training, they have this propensity.

On top of that, humans are a much greater threat to other humans than dogs but you’re not talking about rounding them all up.

You’re a clown lmao. Dogs are not people everyone. Of course humans are more dangerous than pitbulls. Once again. It’s not racist to have issues with pitbulls. It’s not the pitbulls fault that they eugenicized into dangerous animals and it’s not their fault that most people can’t handle the responsibility of owning one, but it’s crazy to think that this is a problem that can be solved with “free training,” which is a pipe dream in of itself. I don’t support the policy of going door to door and massacring pitbulls, but living in a city for years has shown me the danger that they can pose and people like you who try to compare a breed of dog that is a complete victim of violent human intent and eugenics with people who have a different skin color sicken me.

Pitbulls are more prone to unpredictable aggression

And you think that's due to DNA and not training?

I'm not wasting my time with most of your comment after the first few lines. It's telling that I never actually called you racist and you got this defensive about it.

I'm not saying "you are a racist". I'm just saying that, at least in the anglo world, pit bull hate is largely centered around racial lines. So maybe its something you should have some introspection on before lashing out at others.
