    Things in common:

    1. Want to change society

    Things not in common:

    1. Everything else

Philosophers have hitherto only interpreted the world in various ways; the point is to change it

        • Ronald Reagan

It sucks that such a profoundly important field is also a refuge for wealthy failsons. They're like the academic equivalent of libertarians who only think in their bubble of individualism without considering how their ideas scale up. If you've read all of those books and your conclusion is the same as someone who has only read young adult novels, if your degree is in thinking and what you've come to think is any episode of a late night talk show, that degree is a waste of pa-pa's money.

I mean when I studied nursing I took medical ethics and now that I study horticulture I've taken environmental ethics. Those have use-value and affect the relationships that make the world happen. Dialectical materialism is important, natural philosophy and the philosophy of science did a couple of good things, and that whole existentialism-absurdism realm underlies our politics.

This is the motherfucker who let 2 TERFs come on his popular philosophy podcast to spew hate on separate occasions and insists anyone telling him to fuck off has to read his book on John Stuart Mill to learn that, actually, not hosting TERF hatred on your podcast is censorship.

Just more evidence we need to sink TERF Island.

      Don't sink TERF island.

Subject it to famine until it's cleaned and then make a safe space for Trans people.

I have a weird pure copium fantasy that one of the things hiding inside China's map obfuscation algorithms is little gay villages.
Not to sequester the gays, they need to live within society to make it better, but just like a retreat and healing type of thing, or a place to transition in peace.
        HAS IDEOLOGY GONE TOO FAR?!?!

One of the weirder things about UK politics is that the island hasn't sunk itself.

Wittgenstein was right. Philisophy is pointles and philosophers are nerds that need bullying.

I think I am paraphrasing that right.

Philosophy peaked with Sartre and De Beauvoir. The world has moved passed the need for philosophy.

Nothing after Diogenes was worth saying. Wittgenstein merely transposed the acts of barrel-living and masturbating into concise language.

Last episode of his podcast I listened to was where he uncritically had a terf on, and he didn't challenge her at all. Like not even the softball devil's advocate questions that pod normally does.

Yeah, philosophybytes, is a pop-philosophy podcast where he and his co-host interview other academic philosophers. It was actually really good, 15 minute interviews about interesting philosophical topics. But l couldn't keep listening when he decided to let someone just soapbox about their grievances with trans people.

One of the the weirder things about politics is the way the far right, “centrists”, and liberals have so much in common.

Imagine writing entire screeds about how gender is a social construct only to actively support the candidate that put transwomen prisoners in the same jails as men. I mean I can only assume the whole academia thing is just rich fucks having fun writing words and not actually caring about any real-world implications they have.
