Peter Mayo is actually Joseph Buttigieg 's (Pete's dad) long time collaborator on Gramsci scholarship and translations. They have written some books and papers together. Peter Mayo even wrote Joseph's obituary. Therefore, there is a non-zero chance that Mayor Pete is literally named after Peter Mayo. The prophecy was there all along.
according to that obit mayo met pete's dad in 1993 so it seems unlikely that he was pete's namesake, unfortunately
