My sister voted for Biden but is worried about Biden’s tax plan because she thinks that she’ll make $400k in a year soon(she currently works for $16 an hour)

Nobody who is afraid of tax brackets actually understands them. Like, if you end up making over 400k, you get taxed at the high rate starting at 400,001. You could easily contribute to retirement, HSA, or (gasp) charity if you hate paying taxes so fucking much.

Writing off charity donations always seemed kind of weird to me.

Why? It’s a rich people thing, make a foundation, donate money, write off taxes, pay salaries to your failsons/daughters, say how much of a philanthropist you are, fly to private island with pinker/other intellectuals.

I mean, it’s not weird, it’s exactly the reason for write-off existence.
