I've been out of gaming for a few years and have started to miss that fun and have started to think about saving and picking up a next gen console when they release. Would hope to find some fellow chapos to play with when that time comes, so I guess I'm wondering what console if any you all plan on picking up.
pick the platform where you never have to actually pay for games - build a PC and never give EA, ubisoft, nintendo, or activision a fucking penny ever again. plus to my knowledge, pc is also the only platform that actually lets you support indie creators consistently, on the occasion that you do have a few dollars to throw around.
Seriously, people say pcs are more expensive, but i know i spend way less on gaming than most of my mates due to the wonder that is piracy and emulators. imagine paying £60 for a game lmao.
(unless you really enjoy consoles for whatever reason, in which case do that. the whole pc master race bullshit was always dumb.)
Those are some superfluously expensive machines, holy fuck. Also, i guess i did build mine like 6 years ago, so i might be a bit out of touch with the parts economy.
But between longevity, multifunctionality, and piracy, i do think they generally add up to a better investment if you can manage the initial cost. I appreciate that a lot of people can't though, especially right now.
Oh, no, you don't use the website to browse machines other people have put together, you use it to compile a list of parts and find the cheapest prices online: Browse Products up top.
Edit: this is not too bad though: https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/FNwrxr/entry-level-amd-gaming-build
cool coincidence, i've been thinking of upgrading recently and thats the exact same cpu! And its nice to know people are making sites to make the whole process a bit more accessible for people who might not be terminally online lol.
PS5 they have the better exclusives, anything on Xbox comes out on PC as well, so that is of no use to me.
I was hoping that microsoft would up its game in next gen, but despite having the more powerfull hardware this time their demo's just sucked (halo infinite was just embarrassing). Sony's presentation made a solid case for PS5.
It seems like Microsoft doesn't really know which way they want to go, while Sony seems to have a pretty clear strategy.
AFAIK PS5s SSD is a pretty big difference in how devs can even conceptualise games from the ground up, like you wouldn't need to have any long tunnels because the console has to load shit.
Additionally it is said that they have been able to eliminate a lot previous bottlenecks in compression. Just to put the raw TFlops perfomance edge the Xbox has in perspective. But in the end both will hopefully be cool and push the bounds further, not just graphically, but also from a story standpoint.
I was really surprised by Sony's SSD bet, in the beginning I dismissed it as just Sony being eccentric again, but seeing the visual difference between both machines it was clearly the better decision, more TFlops won't really give you that much in visuals, but a high speed SSD with compression could really improve the gaming experience and allow developers to dream up new experiences. Will probably wait until the machines are 1 year in but the PS5 looks like a winner again.
At first, I as well, though, meh every PC has an SSD nowadays. But this seems to be a bit more than just an upgrade to some off the rack SSD.
Waiting for a year is probably a very good take in the end.
Sure EA won't do much different for their next FIFA or whatever. But I am pretty sure that first party will be a difference, because Sonys devs only need to think of one hardware that won't change. MS devs have to account for PC, which means compromise. And like the new Horizon Zero Dawn should already come out next year. All I really want from MS is that they just don't fuck up Infinite.
But, in the end I just hope both make good games, that aren't plagued by MTX and shit.
Snagging a ps5 so I can replay demons Souls and finally play bloodborne. Other than that, lighting a candle at my prayer altar for breath of the wild 2 to come out
I'll be getting a ps5 (when I can afford it) because I've played/owned every playstation ever and most of the games I play are playstation exclusive (gran turismo, uncharted, god of war, horizon, ratchet and clank, etc). Also as a lefty the playstation controller is much better than an Xbox one for me, and PC's are way too expensive in my third world country, a low end GPU is the price of an entire console.
Upgrades for my already still OP PC most likely, and whatever Nintendo shits out. I quit fucking with Sony and Microsoft a while back. Spider-Man tempted me on PS4. but ultimately only Nintendo really makes console games that are fun and unique anymore as far as my taste in games goes.
I've already got an PC so I would only consider the PS5. But if you get an Xbox you can get Xbox Games Pass which is a pretty large library of games
