      I honestly don't see this happening. Mostly because we now have weapons that are way deadlier and cost-effective than nukes, that don't also annihilate the people who use them.

      I think the military industrial complex/neo-cons realises conventional war (boots on ground/tanks/aircraft/subs) generates more money from conquest of resources. Can't nuke otherwise no resources.

      Of course, that depends how red-pilled the person in charge of the button is (ie destruction of entire land & resources included is worth it because they're ridding the 'scum')

        Also, you can't really outsource nuke production to a private contractor (outside of ancapistan anyway), so conventional war lets you do more pork barrel spending.

          idk, in all the worst dystopias today could bring, I can't see it happening without an elite class deciding the shots through media (whatever that may be) and toxic ideology.

              in my head the worst dystopia would be 97% of the world is Mad Max, then there's just millionaires living on beachside near farms surrounded by security who benefit from the regime they protect.
