To the capitalist, every luxury of the worker seems to be reprehensible, and everything that goes beyond the most abstract need – be it in the realm of passive enjoyment, or a manifestation of activity – seems to him a luxury.

Exactly! I hate how these people want to make every problem an individual problem. Even when the real root is so obviously societal!

And it's purposely designed to be more common in poor communities to keep them as addicted to junk food as possible which will give them as many health problems as possible. Then smug liberals will come along and tell you how they should all be eating healthier as if they even had an option in the first place.

Imagine if we nationalized food production and focused on healthy foods instead of subsidizing private production of unhealthy food

i can't believe there are still people who think that America's biggest problem is the fact that we consume unhealthy foods at a high rate, and that it doesn't run any deeper than personal choice and lack of willpower.

A few months back it was a big deal (at least for those who rely on their ebt card for survival) that amazon was going to start accepting ebt/snap for food items. I mean, fuck amazon of course, but especially during a pandemic when it's taking a risk going to a grocery store, this could be a massive help to particularly vulnerable ebt-reliant people, like the elderly or immunocompromised. But if you look, most food on amazon is not ebt eligible. 90% of what is eligible, is junk snack food. There's tons of variety packs of single-serving cheese-its flavors and bulk snack bars but only a tiny amount of anything that could be considered moderately healthy with nutritional value.

So it's great the "food deserts" that poor people are already subject to (and then blamed for) are extending even to online shopping!

It would be a very fitting irony if it was made so only "healthy" food could be purchased with ebt. Then ebt users who couldn't make it to a physical store could at least stock up on olive oil and dried seaweed flats, I guess.

Imagine if poor Americans just got real money. Imagine if everyone just got a basic income.

imagine if we just fully automated our production system and developed luxury communism with gay space characteristics :angery:

Counterargument: Give all food away for free, to everyone.

Imagine if we stuck every obnoxious prick who wanks themseves raw about playing lady bountiful and ladling out hearty, nutritous broth to the deserving poor on an island in the middle of fucking nowhere and surrounded it with sea mines.

    Just a thought.

I wonder what they consider healthy food lol

I'm a recent food stamps user due to me being out of work and completely in a hopeless despair spiral for the time being.

I use it mostly on produce, non-perishables, and a few cuts of meat (though I'm slowly trying to move away from meat eating).

However, I'm also an overweight person mostly due to the aforementioned depression.

I bet this cunt would criticize the shit out of me.

Imagine, if you will, a world where people don't have earn their right to exist. Hahaha, fuck I wish I was there already, but this tweet just reminds me of all my years in retail and the judgemental pricks that ran their mouths about people buying extravagant/junk food items. However, I don't seem to recall anyone who ran their hateful mouths offering any solutions or any help for those people struggling.
