A massacre at a protest just happened. Spread this.
AMLO is centerleft-ish in discourse but in actions he's been doing little to nothing particularly in some really-easy-to-score areas like feminist policies.
His coalition party had a great victory and majority, but there are deep cracks inside the coalition and he seems to not want to use the power he has.
No no I meant my government acts kinda the same as AMLO.
much greater political autonomy
Eh, I wish. Our oligarchs spend their weekends in Miami, we really don't have much future particularly when they periodically get into power and enslave the whole country into more foreign debt and the money is immediately spent in an inverse Ponzi scheme that they are beneficiaries of.
Good thing AMLO kept us in the new one, maybe if we destroy all of our environment, kick out and repress enough marginalized peoples and finish off the neoliberalization of México, the big companies will be so happy here they'll just have to trickle down their wealth to us! God, I love post-neoliberalism, as useful as post-colonialism.
Eh, in my little experience, the english sources most often that not are the same old shit. "Did you know México is a country and AMLO is its president? He's doing lots of things but they seem scary to us :( now let's listen to Actually Important Global North people to tell us how they feel about it."

Not a big change from what there was earlier.
He was never anti-capitalist.

I get to interact with @czechvault and I always draw parallels with my own "left-wing-for-US-standards" latam government.

just like AMLO, you just say things, but when push comes to shove, you'll defend the oppression and tell us it was Good oppression.

same shit, different asshole.
LMAO are originary peoples and environmental activists defending their territory from neoliberal megaprojects "liberal or anarchists"?!
Are the living normalistas who still get repressed by the cops, sometimes even under morenista governors while our govt pretends to give a shit about the more famous dead ones "liberals or anarchists"?!
Looking forward to that anti-"liberal-anarchist" effort post.
