In retrospect a lot of Remembrance Day is really sus, from doing the calvary bugle calls, to all the solemn military parades, to reciting poems about how everyone is so thankful our boys died to beat the Kaiser. Like the whole thing is a co-optation of pacifist and anti-war sentiment developed during and after the war and turned into a ritual celebration of the troops.
Its especially weird in Canada becuase unlike every other Commonwealth state we still think WW1 was worth fighting because it let us be a big-boy country.
