Too often I see it get framed by witnesses as “leftist gets triggered, yells” and not as “leftist puts reactionary in their place”.

No different than the bullied kid who finally takes a swing suddenly finding all of the bullies friends saying, "Hey! Whoa! Why so violent? We weren't being serious..." Doesn't mean they shouldn't have tried to stand up for them self.
