      legitimately though. requiring that, if someone applying for a job meets the requirements for that position, then they must be hired for that position, would fix so many fucking issues.

      no more weeks long interviewing processes. just: you have the skills necessary for this? hired.

        yes but the problem is that there are loads of people who have those, so if 30 people want to apply for a position only 10 people canget what do you do, first takes all?

        they will respond by making the requirements arbitrarily impossible to meet, already do in many cases.

        Sure but that removes the point of trying to find the applicant from whom the most value can be extracted for a given wage. Not to mention counterintuitive cases where the job listing isn't actually there for the purpose of hiring someone (e.g. they already have someone lined up but policy dictates that they make a job posting anyway). And finally, if hiring managers are getting oceans of equally-qualified applicants and choosing a handful for arbitrary reasons, they might realize how bullshit their job is and get sad 😥.
