"...and that's how an American icon, whose name is on millions of trucks and a NFL arena, made significant financial and ideological 'contributions' to Adolf Hitler (we'll read about him tomorrow night sweetie) and the Nazi party. Sleep tight!"

Ford stands for Fix It Again Tony. What's with the myth-making around Henry Ford though?

He's credited with the assembly line even though Adam Smith wrote about the assembly line of a paper clip in Wealth of Nations. Virgin paperclip manufacturing process vs Chad yards of linen per coat.

I have heard rich boomers bring him up as a self made genius who took care of his workers because they could actually afford the cars they built. To that sort, he gave them the 'just' amount of the proceeds from their labour.

I think there is a pasage in xenophon about an asambley line in a bakery but i migth be misremembering.

But fords thing is not the assambley line but an early large scale application of taylorism. Esentially on those days there were a lot of uneducated workers of inconsistent skills and they needed uniformity. so they decideded to further alienate them from their labor by making them follow rigid instrictions. Lest the worker come up with an idea to do it better.

Most education systems still folow this model to this day.

So esentially it gave the engeneers and managers a the power of how to modiffy factory power and some tools of analysis.

At some point it was not that uncommon to see engeneers and factory managers have a portrait of fred in their offices like a normal person would have one of khomeini.

Do you think these covers look like this because he's trying to go for a "childlike" style, or do you think they look like that because he just can't draw but thinks he's amazing at it?
