It's not literally blackface, it's an edited photo. No white person changed their own appearance to impersonate a Black person in the making of this photo.
I'm also white and can't dictate what's offensive, but what I can say is that I've seen this photo show up several times in leftist online spaces and you're the first person I've seen raise the idea that it could be offensive.
But of course, if a Black comrade has anything to add, listen to them and not me
The fact that you haven't encountered disapproval of it in leftist online communities is not an endorsement, especially if you're talking about reddit which was always 90+% white in surveys. It can be exhausting to have to speak up or explain yourself constantly when you're in the minority.
Why did the creator of the photo decide to swap races? Just to be edgy like Andy Warhol? And why do people like OP feel the need to keep posting it?
I posted it because I believe that the American vanguard will likely be led by a black or brown person - a "black Lenin," if you will - and I believe that we are facing a revolutionary moment with the ability for thousands of people across the country to stay in their homes, or even survive, being held up in Congress over dumb partisanship like it is, so we will need that vanguard ASAP
Sorry it bothered you, do you want me to delete it?

Honestly (I am black), a black Lenin (especially with the resemblance in the picture) would be pretty live
