He's a white kid who grew up in inner-city San Fransisco, which is pretty rare outside of Bourgeois society, his dad was a journalist, he has a several year period that's explained away as him just being a junkie, he went to Syria to fight with a US-backed rebel group, got famous for it and was profiled by all the propaganda rags, came back and was featured on all the hot new left wing podcasts, salted for an AFL-CIO union in a disproportionately high profile union drive and gained major left wing cred, then immediately quit the factory after his podcast rapidly rose in popularity.

He also calls himself a Marxist-Leninist but seems to exist politically outside of the generally accepted global ML line on existing countries and movements. He never praises any existing socialist countries except maybe Cuba IIRC. If he talks about foreign struggles it's usually either small Maoist insurgencies that pose no real threat to imperialism/capitalism, or the kurdish struggle which is literally a collaborator with the US.

I'm not saying he's a spook, just that if he was, it wouldn't surprise me. There needs to be a word for that lol.
