So, fun story: Back when I lived in Milwaukee, Mayfair was the only mall that had an affordable, easy to access movie theater for a lot of people (there were like five bus routes that had stops at or near Mayfair).
One summer, a fight broke out between some teenagers and the mall cops were totally unprepared to handle anything more than shoplifting, so the cops got called in and it became a huge fucking deal.
So Mayfair passed a policy that you couldn't go there if you were under 18 and didn't have parents with you.
Of course, this affected us black and brown kids disproportionately, with the fucking mall cops carding me until I moved out of state in my mid twenties.
My friends who were noticeably darker in complexion had the cops called on them for even being near Mayfair.
Isn't it funny how being racist as shit doesn't actually make things better for anyone?
