Posted this on mentalhealth a couple days ago but only got one reply. Sorry if that isn't okay.

Chapos, I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I have major depressive disorder that I’ve been struggling with for years. This time last year, I’d gotten it under control with a new drug, Rexulti, but unfortunately it was under a three month trial thing and my insurance refused to cover it. Now, a year later, they are still refusing to cover anything but SSRIs that don’t work as I am susceptible to serotonin syndrome and can’t take much more than minimum dosages. I’ve heard of people sourcing meds from India, Mexico, Canada, etc but am very unsure how to do so. Do any of you have experience or information that would help me acquiring medication without Blue Cross’s bullshit?

My psychiatrist has been able to argue with my insurance (i think it was blue cross at the time but i don't remember). He basically just called them and wouldn't give up until they agreed to cover what he wanted to prescribe. Could you ask your psychiatrist to do that?

Unfortunately I go to a community mental health place because my counselor is there, I might have to look into getting a new psychiatrist at a private practice to do just that. Thanks

Not sure if you can take MAOIs, but tobacco does contain them. (Not good for your health though; Swedish snus is the healthiest but still has risk of pancreatic cancer). A "full spectrum" vape might have it as well. MAOIs are an older type of antidepressant.

You can get organic full spectrum vape juice as well, and you would want a ceramic vaporizer so you don't get the heavy metals (this would be on a "mod" not a "cigalike").

I would trust some kind of tobacco-derived antidepressant over drugs shipped from overseas containing who knows what (at least in short term, light usage). The health harms of tobacco are a known quantity. I would not advise smoking to people under 21, older is better because the brain is more developed, less susceptible to addiction.

If you could grow it yourself (which, in the US, IIRC is legal if you don't sell it or give it to others), then smoke it in a natural pipe, that would be healthier than commercial cigarettes imo, since it wouldn't have the dioxins from the bleached paper or the thousands of non-tobacco constituents.

Thanks for the reply. I'd rather go with overseas as I trust that other countries actually know more about science than the hellhole of the US but if nothing else pans out I may have to look into this.

Ok, I can do more research & suggest different items if needed, just let me know. (used to vape & smoke and it was rather helpful to my mental state) Some of these may be a bit hard to find.

for the record there are a bunch of plants with MAOIs. Banisteriopsis caapi and Peganum harmala are two i know off the top of my head, don't know if any would suit you, just wanted to add

        Peganum harmala

This one is pretty much perfect for that use, and costs literally close to nothing - look for Syrian Rue; you can make a tea from the seeds directly (3g is a good starter dose), though be advised it is also, by itself, a psychedelic (which most people would start to really feel around 4g - light effects, though). It can also induce nausea at first. A good bet if you want to avoid the later is to extract the harmal alkaloids yourself (which is extremely easy, albeit a bit time consuming). It's a selective and reversible MAOI, inhibiting only MAO-A, so it requires virtually no attention to your diet and won't leave you inhibited for weeks as usual medical MAOIs do.

Oh, and due to its MAOI properties, it's also a great addition to a shroom trip (where both potentiate each others - expect the Rue effects to be increased as well) and an almost universal admixture to Ayahuasca.
