this guy is Gabriele D'Annunzio, one of the most important italian poets of the 19th and 20th century. He was a reactionary pos and he influenced much of the fascist movement, mostly regarding the rhetoric, and was also othe leader of an expedition to conquer Fiume (nowdays Rijeka) immediatly after WWI, for which he was a staunch interventionist, that lasted almost a year. He had an incredible life.
I remember getting high af during a school trip at his mansion lol. He had a fucking boat in his yard in the middle of Garda's hills. The dude was a douchebag ractionary, but I remember I was kind of invested in his works at the time - especially because of his romanticization of heroism and strong and patriotic men. Not proud at all of my teen years
