If we’re being nostalgic, anyone remember when people were arguing over whether or not ACAB includes Judy Hopps?
Okay, long story short: I know how hard-left this sub is, and I'm pretty much to the left myself. I can't stand crooked law enforcement. I fiercely support Black Lives, and I think we need reform badly.
But I happen to enjoy some movies/shows/games that have police characters.
And I'm getting beyond fed up with seeing a certain movie (Zootopia) that impacted me so much get attacked from the left in this manner. Basically, I don't agree with how some in the hard left keep holding it up as "cop propaganda" or "fascist", which it isn't, and people accusing it of "getting racial allegories wrong" when in reality, the movie is an allegory for prejudice as a whole.

Some hard leftists accuse the film of missing the mark because the "predators" evolved from eating prey mammals to eating fish and bugs. That's not meant to symbolize anything in real life, it's just something that happened with those animals in a kids' movie. It doesn't clash with the movie's messaging at all. It's not "police apologism" because the police department is depicted as inept in many ways, and the story contains a moral against unfair profiling.
Now for some reason, the "NP" link option isn't working, but I discussed this before in BreadTube and Complete Anarchy.
I'm asking you how you feel about this because I once encountered a thread in this sub mocking Judy Hopps, doing the whole "ACAB" thing, and I was legit upset by it.
If you think I'm some kind of idiot, weirdo or loser for getting so emotional about a movie aimed at kids that's part of a big corporation, that's your right. But people have been sharing "Judy's a pig, smash the state" memes in the Zootopia sub. And as someone who can't watch certain scenes in the movie without crying my eyes out, they really bothered me and I didn't think they were fair at all.
Especially given how aggressively critical the movie is of law enforcement, and bigotry in general.

I still don't know exactly what the kerryposting was about, other than some obscure drama centered around the chapo lifeboat discord and this site, but it did lead to my favorite post of all time on this site. I can't be bothered to find the post now, but I'll describe it as best I remember it. It was titled something like "look who's back" with a streamable link. Clicking on that link you got a video, which looks like a still image from a late night talk show. There's a fake brick wall with a window overlooking the image of a city skyline at night, and in the foreground is a plastic greek column made to look like it's been carved with olive branches. The opening notes of A-ha's "Take On Me" play, a few drumbeats that crescendo into an electric lick, and just as that crescendo happens out from stage left walks who else but John Kerry.
It's just so utterly absurd. Not sure why, exactly, but something about John Kerry being announced with synth-pop fanfare in this bizarrely grandiose way strikes me as the funniest thing imaginable.
I was about to post about this, I still laugh whenever I hear John Kerry's name (which is rare to be fair) just because of that post

Despite having been around the entire time, to this day I still have no earthly idea what the fuck was with all of the insufferable, terminally online drama that originated on the discord lifeboat.
Does that server still even exist? There was a sizable group of deeply unserious CTH refugees who had somehow grown to prefer the lifeboat discord over chapo.chat's format, so they just decided to just stay there after this site opened. I recall they eventually changed their discord server name and elected new mods to differentiate themselves as a separate community from us, but that's the last I ever heard about them.
I forget, was it a coordinated effort, or just one person?
