I think the joke is that the boss is acting woke (or whatever was the equivalent 50 years ago), while the (obvious, undeniable, and just) reality is that some get paid less than others. Scott Adams would have no problem with honest exploitation, he's only mocking the hypocrisy.
Right, Adams thinks he would be the brilliant office worker who should get paid like 50X what the receptionist makes, but it's somehow "socialism" that he only makes 3X what they do, because his contributions are so much more valuable.
