They get a bird's eye view on the situation and know that their continued existence is suffering for billions. They don't necessarily know what that entails. There are plenty of bourgeois dupes that just don't care about appeasing the masses with social democracy because they think they won the cold war. To them socialism is a dead movement when in reality it's never had stronger footing.
Its not like they wanted FDR in the first place. I mean the business plot was a thing. They just tolerated him and got to work dismantling the new deal which saved their ass.
