Italy had the biggest Communist Party in Western Europe, then the CIA funded fascists terrorism and government crankdowns againt the italian left ( the years of lead ) ending in the collapse of the Communist Party of Italy
Not to mention the defanging of the party by reformists and eurocommunist revisionists. Any decent communist party that can get 30% of the vote and isn't trying more actively to undermine the state is doing something wrong.
The euro communist commited the same error as khrushchev, they thought that they could co-exist with the capitalist states as long as they played by the rules.

How the hell have I never heard about any of this? I literally live in Croatia, a country next to Italy, and I didn't know anything about that period of unrest.
Also, CIA and MI6 supporting literal nazi organizations, if that doesn't tell you everything you need to know.
EDIT: kinda weird Wikipedia slip, when they count "units involved," they say that the Red Brigade only had "Several hundred active members," while the Nazis had 10,000. But then under "casualties," they say Red Brigade had "12,000 Far-left militants arrested and 600 fled the country" -- while the Nazi side with supposedly "10,000 combatants" only had 3 members arrested.... That literally doesn't make sense....
