I've literally only heard the term "Critical Race Theory" from right wingers. Never once from a leftist. The amount they use it you'd think it was our main ideology lol.

So many white kids when to college took Sociology 101 and realized how racist their whole family was. Went back home to tell them news and here we are.

I think right wing propaganda has been deliberately pushing it as a talking point in response to Democrats' adoption of idpol in the wake of being unable/unwilling to make economic concessions to workers too.

Luckily, there is a :galaxy-brain: individual in that thread willing to explain it to the rest of us peasants.

I'm obviously not @HawleyMO, but I'll do my best to explain why I think he's mostly correct.

Marx conceptualized the world as oppressed (proletariat) and oppressor (bourgeoisie). Critical Race Theory conceptualizes the world similarly, but instead uses whites as oppressors and people of color as oppressed.

Both ideas still use an oppressor class vs. oppressed class framework. And the reason both ideas are wrong, is that the world is infinitely more complex than putting every single person into a 100% oppressed or 100% oppressor category.

God I fuckin hate this. Like no that isn't what Marxism is and Marx didn't divide people that simplistically. There is the Peasant, the Proletariat, the Bourgeoisie the Petit Bourgeoisie, the Landlord, the Lumpenproletariat etc lol. When I see takes this dumb just sitting out there I want to make a Twitter account to refute them but I know it's pointless.

It does make sense. They are using NeoMarxism to divide their own workforce the same way Mao used cultural revolution to divide his own people against each other and stay in power.
