TBH I just think it sounds cheesy and cheap in that episode because it's a public domain song. There was an MST3K movie called The Touch of Satan where they used Amazing Grace a lot and Mike and the bots made fun of it, so that's what I think of whenever I hear Amazing Grace in a piece of media.
