I am neurodivergent and have a genetic disorder. I live in constant fear that one day I'll need an organ transplant because in America having a severe mental illness is enough to deny you a transplant, I shit you not.
That having a mental illness makes recovery from an organ transplant more difficult. They see it as wasting an organ if they think the person would stuggle too much to the adjustment and die. It's the same reason they deny them to homeless people. Some states have a protection law in place but only some.

My experience with the ADA has been pretty poor. Been flat out told repeatedly that due to my disability, I can't hold the job I apply for and tell them which accommodations can fit the job requirements.
