Russia went from a nearly feudal state which worshipped the king and believed in his divine right to rule, and in less than ten years the Russian people were cheering for his execution and the execution of his entire family.

40 years after that, they were the first to ever put a man made satellite into space. They developed industry, improved quality of life, and built a nuclear program from the ground up in the same period of time despite having their lands invaded and ravaged in two wars and losing 15% of their population.

The world is scary, but it changes quickly. Rest easy but don’t give up our cause. What feels far off today may be just over the horizon.

40 years after that, they were the first to ever a man made satellite into space. They developed industry improved quality of life, and built a nuclear program from the ground up in the same period of time despite having their lands invaded and ravaged in two wars and losing 15% of their population.

And 30 years later, the whole Socialist project in the USSR had been destroyed and the Russian people saw the greatest decline in living standards outside of war in modern history.

This is not doomerism, this is a reminder that rapid change cuts both ways and we need to be vigilant to guard the advances we have made, lest the capitalists destroy them.
