How is there a general strike in india with almost the population the US and yet still so little coverage on it?

Edit: Of course the glowies at R*ddit deleted the post with 34k upvotes over being "misleading" https://old.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/k5ljxn/this_is_a_revolution_sir_workers_in_india_last/

It's the largest general strike in history. 250+ million people. And the media isn't covering it at all.

Actually I think the only Indian piece the NYT ran in the last few weeks was about Hindu nationalists and painted the entire country as a nazi hell hole. Like how does that get through the editorial desk but the general strike doesn't? Fucking libs.

In a cursory google, the only reporting is in jacobin and various union/leftist publications.

How is a movement of 250M strong just ignored? Absolutely insane.

I think so, and the gov used covid as an excuse to beat them back.

Is it actually a general strike or just one of those one day "strikes" that essentially are just a labor holiday (still good)

250M farmers marching on Dehli. using tractors to remove police barricades. So I don't think it's a labor holiday.

Although a holiday where you use farm equipment to fuck with police would be based.

There certainly weren't 250 million people marching on Dehli. Thousands sure, but not 250 million.

Sorted comments by new and a few people were saying that the numbers are misleading, by like a lot. One person specifically said it was "300,000 farmers", another said " we don't even have that many people in Punjab". Are we 100% sure that Jacobin has their numbers right here? I certainly want to believe they do, but I don't want to get caught believing something false because its better for my ideology that its true. Like maybe those accounts saying its false are glowies or convinced by glowies, but is there proof that its really 250,000 million? (I haven't read the Jacobin article btw I'm very lazy).

        https://www.newsclick.in/Shutdown-Across-Sectors-as-Over-25-Crore-Workers-Join-One-of-theBiggest-Strikes-Ever

Jacobin sourced this article, which mentions 50k arrested, 40k coal workers, 1.5 crore(had to look that up, 15M) in Kerala are striking.

Its not just farmers, and if 50k are arrested, and 40k are coal workers, and tons of other industries are participating, I think 300k is far too low.

It'd be just great if there was more reporting on this.
