Hello everyone,
So far the launch of /c/LanguageLearning has been a great success and to keep the momentum going we would like to put out a call for language ambassadors.
Do you speak a language that doesn't have a practice thread yet, or are interested in helping others learn? If so we would be happy to have you! Just start a thread and we will add it to the Language megathread list.
Also, we're interested in starting a "lesser known language of the month" series. If you'd like to teach people about your language, please don't hesitate to get in contact.

You really kind of have to for this sort of community - no one's going to use it if people aren't already using it. I figure if we get it over the initial hump it'll keep itself going for the most part.
I'm hoping that once the big languages are running smoothly we can focus on more obscure languages.
Does one have to be a native speaker of the language in order to make the thread? I'm intermediate in Korean, and thought about making one, but I'm sure we have at least a few people in here that are much more fluent than I
Absolutely not! I made the Russian thread and I'm very much a beginner. Make a Korean thread anytime you want and I'll add it to the Index Thread.
We'd really love to find folks to help out with Arabic and Hindi. If anyone here speaks either of those languages, please DM me! We just need someone to help us post and keep an eye on practice threads for both languages.
Other languages are also appreciated, but those are the 2 most spoken languages of which we're having trouble finding speakers.
How good do we have to be because i apparently speak Russian at an elementary school level. I can help with the absolute basics ("is this legible or not") but not with trickier wording stuff
The Russian practice thread seems pretty active, if you have advice for anyone I say go for it.

well they did the flag stunt and shot a cool music video with a palestinian artist while wearing their eurovision costumes, that's enough for me at least. We'll never know what a boycott would have accomplished :/
Maybe we'll hit you up on that, if you're open to it maybe you could start an icelandic practice thread, there's no real specific format just say it's an icelandic practice thread, even if you don't get anything right away I'll be in the index thread and you'll be notified if someone posts.
I can help people sure, I'm terrible at grammar in any language, but my spelling is good. I'll start a thread.

i can speak czech fluentish but im not particularly the best at it. ill skim it over but i wouldnt wanna volunteer for anything lmao

Kinda wish you'd have gone into more details into what a "language ambassador" or a "practice thread" is supposed to be to be honest (what if I'm offline for a few days and can't cover the thread, for example ? do I have to follow a template for the thread ? I copied another post but if it's not OK please tell me and I'll edit), but thanks. Done.
There are no rules and we're still figuring things out. Don't feel obligated to do anything!

Maybe, but I wouldn't at the moment. There's not enough traffic yet to split them off and have it be sustainable.
I've been learning Western Armenian for a few years. I can sort of talk to my kids or my wife's family and know what people are saying about 2/3 of the time.
