Foreign & defence policy: Cut ties with US and NATO. Stop the fighter jet purchase. Coordinate defence with Sweden and maybe other Nordic & Baltic countries. Improve relations and trade with Russia. Stop the export and import of weapons (expect maybe with trusted allies). Develop nationalised weapons industry. Change the current, sexist conscription policy to include people of all genders, but stop punishing people who refuse to serve and increase the standards of who's fit to serve. We could use smaller, but more motivated and better equipped defence forces. Chance military training to emphasis only on defence and helping civilians.
Environment & infrastructure: Make a clear roadmap for quickly abandoning fossil fuels and peat. Agressively research and build nuclear and renevable energy. Protect the last natural forests. Cut funding for highways and airports. Invest heavily into both light and heavy rail transport. Declare that cities should aim for dense, walkable mixed-use development. Build publicly owned, wooden apartment houses.
Other: Nationalise banks and key industries. Improve mental health services. Legalise cannabis and decriminalise all drugs. Create jobs with massive infrastructure projects and investing into public sector. Increase research and education funding. Stop funding animal production. Develop healthy and sustainable, mostly plant based diet fitting to arctic conditions.
Yes! I hate to walk in my city, it's beautiful medieval town right at the sea shore but the already narrow streets are crammed with car lanes. The place where I would need to walk most often has six lanes, three in both directions. Crossing that street is scary.
Seriously, translating my language (Finnish) to English is impossible because there's just so so few curse words in English. And believe me, we curse a lot.
Finn here, our number seems to be 3,6 earths. Sustainability means many things tho, and we're certainly one of the top countries in material recycling and planting forests. Other Nordic countries have their strengths, for example the geothermal energy in Iceland and wind power and car free city designs in Denmark. We all have remarkably clean air and nature too. But yeah, we're capitalist countries that have historically benefitted from imperialism, and we buy terrible amounts of unnecessary plastics and electronics from the other side of the planet and then throw them away next year when a new model is released. I try to be optimistic about future but it's not always easy.
Please continue doing these! If I may give you one suggestion, it would be helpful if you could somehow open up what for example "late Cretaceous" means for us who don't know about dino timing. I'm not sure how, but like was it early dino times or late dino times? Thanks :)
