    The tower of Babel is a fucked up story. Apparently languages exist as a method to prevent international solidarity, a force so powerful it made mankind a threat to God's authority. The moral of the story is "if everyone got over their differences, they could accomplish anything, and that's Bad."

      Wasn't that what space Marx was talking about in the original Gundam? The idea of humans in the future developing psychic powers (newtypes) that would allow us all to communicate with each other and overcome our differences as a species, ushering in an era of space-faring utopia. And part of the tragedy of the series is the newtypes are wasted on some shitass war.
