it sucks that Free and Open-Source Software is the one communist project that is allowed to exist (because big companies can sell the open-source projects). it sucks because programmers are the most tunnel-visioned, ideological, petty-bouj people and some massive percentage are hardline reactionary neckbeards to boot. I need some anti-technocracy theory rn but i would settle for anti-PMC stuff
Professional software engineers as a demographic are some of the least humble, most pretentious people in Amerikkka. Sorry, knowing how to write python scripts doesn't make you a fucking genius. Doesn't help that big tech companies totally validate that mindset.
Not all of them are industry professionals living in a bubble. I dropped out of a computer science program and ended up as a machinist, but it was always my passion. I was indoctrinated by a bunch of GNU zealots on IRC two decades ago, and I always scratched my head and wondered why the government didn't work more like free software. It was the first time I pondered about communism.
