Not all of them are industry professionals living in a bubble. I dropped out of a computer science program and ended up as a machinist, but it was always my passion. I was indoctrinated by a bunch of GNU zealots on IRC two decades ago, and I always scratched my head and wondered why the government didn't work more like free software.
