Mine is loving dumb pop-culture shit.

MCU specifically, I LOVE that shit, LOVE it.

Every lefty on my TL is making fun of those movies and labeling people who enjoy them as mindless consumers or whatever, while I'm like "FUCK YEAH THREE INCARNATIONS OF SPIDER-MAN & DAREDEVIL ARE IN THE NEXT SPIDER-MAN MOVIE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO."

Like, I know it's dumb, but it really brings me that immense childish joy that I get nowhere else.

Anyone else? Or do you have some other dumb shit you love?

There's nothing wrong with liking the MCU. They're fun movies with a big, satisfying story arc executed on a large scale. And to everyone else in this thread: don't be ashamed of the things you like unless they're straight up reactionary. It's fine. It's all fine to like.

        except for this one

"We couldn't reconcile the unreality of this international organization and our place in it," Phil Strub, the Defense Department's Hollywood liaison, tells Danger Room. "To whom did S.H.I.E.L.D. answer? Did we work for S.H.I.E.L.D.? We hit that roadblock and decided we couldn't do anything" with the film.

I can't find the tweet, but someone discussed that while Captain Marvel was aesthetically pro US military (and it definitely was funded by the airforce🤮) , its plot details were about a soldier breaking programming, deserting her imperialist army and siding with the enemy- who was represented in the propaganda as terrifying infiltrators who could be anyone and hide anywhere, who turn out to mostly be refugees.
