If he had been more ‘authoritarian’ and secured his power wouldn’t that have just given his enemies including America the precedent and justification to take more drastic action against him earlier? It seems like he just didn’t have enough support either way.

There were people being reactionary during that but personally i think a lot of it was exacerbated by the hostility of the mods and others with the ‘if you don’t set pronouns you’re transphobic’ rhetoric, instead of doing something sensible like simply forcing people to pick pronouns. Instead of calling people transphobic for not understanding the social benefit of everyone having them set, as well as overlooking trans or questioning people who didn’t want to have to declare their pronouns, not to mention the lack of options at the time which made this worse.
Struggle sessions about this filled the front page for days and probably made lots of trans users stay away.

I tried Yabai and Amethyst. Yabai worked but caused crashes (for me), i don’t remember if i got Amethyst working.
I actually installed a tiling window manager on my mac, but it would crash the OS a few minutes after starting. Had to disable some safety feature in the special startup terminal and then it would attach itself to the dock process somehow and rearrange your windows.
