Nah for "the left" I think Biden being in there is better
Way back in like Episode 16 of the pod Matt called a shot about a Trump election in 2016 would mean we were lumped in with the libs under "one big awful tent" opposing Trump like during the Iraq War. We would and did get marginalized and silenced in the name of a "united front". Trump also acts as a Nixonian figure functioning like a black hole, literally warping all political discourse around his singular person - politics in the era of Trump has no longer been about ideology, issues, or even party but your personal opinion regarding Donald Trump.
With Trump out and the Democrats in this allows the left to finally distinguish itself from the liberals once again without the conversation inevitably turning toward Trump and how "uniquely awful" he is.
On the other hand, it's abundantly clear that the Democrats are going to yet again exploit the specter of Trump and "fascism" to try and silence the left. Before the election criticizing the Democrats wasn't allowed because we have to "unite against Trump" to win the election; after the election and before the inauguration criticizing the Democrats isn't allowed because "Biden isn't even in office yet"; after the inauguration criticizing the Democrats won't be allowed because "we have to focus on keeping the Republican fascists out in the next election". And so on. It's our job at this point to tell them to shut the fuck up.
The left cannot distinguish itself from the neoliberals or succ dems in the perception of the majority of Americans at this point if that’s what you’re hoping for in a Biden presidency.
People mostly laughed at Occupy Wallstreet, but it was exactly that.
